Tignanello: A Tuscan Treasure

Tignanello is a small village in the heart of Tuscany Italy. The area has been producing wine for centuries and is known for its production of high-quality Sangiovese wines.

In the 1970s Marchesi Antinori one of the leading wine producers in Tuscany began experimenting with new ways to make Sangiovese. The goal was to create a wine that was more modern and international in style while still retaining the traditional character of Sangiovese.

The result was Tignanello a blend of Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The wine was aged in French oak barrels and released in 1971. Tignanello was an immediate success and quickly became one of the most sought-after wines in the world.

Today Tignanello is considered one of the greatest wines in Italy. It is a complex and elegant wine with aromas of dark fruit flowers and spices. On the palate it is full-bodied and structured with firm tannins and a long, lingering finish.
